61st Republic Day Celebrations held at Consul General’s residence in Dubai

The 61st Republic Day celebrations were held by Consulate General of India, Dubai on Monday, 26th January 2009 at 0830 hrs at the Residence of the Consul General, Mr.Venu Rajamony.

The programme began by hoisting of the National Flag by Consul General, who then read extracts from the Address to the Nation by the President of India on the eve of the Republic Day.

Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General said, “I greet all Indian citizens on the occasion on the 61st Republic Day of India. There is much that India has achieved in the last six decades that we can be proud of. At the same time, we must rededicate ourselves to the task of strengthening our nation and improving the livelihood of the people.

Indians who live abroad, especially in the UAE has played a major role in advancing the development of India.  I urge all Indians to continue to do their utmost for their home country and at the same time strive to strengthen the welfare and security of their host country, UAE”.

The speech was followed by patriotic songs by the Malhar choir and & refreshments were served at the end of the function.
