The Consulate General of India and Indian High School, Dubai will jointly host a special function to mark the 140th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and U.N International Day of Non-Violence on October 2, 2009.

The function, which is open to the public, will be held from 5 p.m. at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School (Senior School), Zabeel East, Dubai.

Dignitaries who will speak on the occasion include H.E. Sheikha Lubna Bint Khaled Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade, Government of UAE, H.H. Shaikh Faisal Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Chairman RAK Free Trade Zone and H.E. Mr. Venu Rajamony, Consul General of India, Dubai.

The programme will begin with recitation of paras from Holy Koran, Holy Bible and Bhagwad Gita in the manner of meetings that Mahatma Gandhi used to hold.

It will include of prayer songs and dances by school students as well as audio-visual presentations on Gandhiji.
