
Independence Day Celebrations

On the occasion of the 63rd Independence Day of India, Venu Rajamony, Consul General of India in Dubai, unfurled the National Flag this morning at the premises of Indian High School, Dubai in the presence of the Indian community.
More than 2000 Indian Nationals assembled at the occasion. People from all walks of life - students, teachers, businessmen, architects, construction workers, bankers and others - attended the function.
Present on the occasion were also Mr. Syed M. Salahuddin, Managing Director of the ETA Ascon Star Group and Mr. Kumar, Convener of the Indian Community Welfare Commmittee, both winners of the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman 2007 and 2008 respectively.
Following the flag hoisting ceremony, the Consul General addressed the gathering and urged all Indians to work towards India’s progress and prosperity. He also said that the UAE has always welcomed Indians with open arms and Indians living here must keep in mind the best interest of the country they reside in and follow its rules, customs and traditions.

This was followed by cultural programme in which Indian High School, Dubai, Delhi Private School, Sharjah and Delhi Private School, Dubai participated.
