New Rules For Recruitment Of Women Emigrants From India
16 September, 2007

The Government of India has introduced some new measures to strengthen the protection of rights of women emigrants to foreign countries.

As per these new measures women emigrants in the ECR Category (those who have not completed high school) will be permitted to work in UAE only if they are above 30 years of age. This applies to all women under ECR category irrespective of the nature/category of employment.

The Government of India has also stipulated that employment contracts should be directly between the worker and the employer and not with the recruiting agent and a pre-paid mobile facility is to be provided by the employer to every Household Service Worker so as to enable them contact authorities in the event of any difficulty.

These instructions have come into effect from September 1st 2007. Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of India, Dubai will attest documents pertaining to recruitment of such women only if they comply with the above guidelines.
